Now, 16-year-old Maddox Pritchard is the founder of The Measuring Shovel.
Maddox came up with the idea in 4th grade, an idea that won him first place amongst the other projects. The idea to bring this shovel to life, didn’t just come from Maddox. His principal helped convince him to file for patent, and so he did.

As a result of the business still in the pre-launch phase, not many customers have had the opportunity to try out the product, however the sharks did.
With the innovative design of putting a measuring scale on a shovel, the product makes gardening easy and accurate thanks to The Measuring Shovel.
Shark Tank Appearance – Did It Go Through?
Kevin O’Leary and Lori Greiner partner up with The Measuring Shovel team offering $40, 000 for 30% equity.
Maddox and his mother, Amanda enter the tank seeking a $40, 000 for 15% of their business. At the time of appearing on Shark Tank, their business was in pre-revenue and were looking for someone to help bring the product to market.
After pitching their ideas, Lori and Kevin offer Maddox $40, 000 for 30% equity (15% each) with the vision to license the product. Maddox accepts the offer and walks away with an investment and a Shark Team on board.
Where is The Measuring Shovel Today?
To date, the deal with Lori and Kevin never closed and the shovels are not for sale.
Maddox does however have a website and he continues to learn about being an entrepreneur and growing a small business from scratch.
