Tantos is the first and only puffed pasta chip seasoned in your favourite Italian flavours. Chef Joe Sasto came up with the idea in 2018 when some pasta left under heat lamps at his restaurant crisped into chips. Despite the tasty concept, all five Sharks passed.
What Is Tantos?
Tantos makes puffed pasta chips in four Italian-inspired flavours: Marinara, Pesto, Cacio e Pepe, and Classico. The concept was born when chef Joe Sasto noticed that pasta left under heat lamps at Cal Mare restaurant had crisped into delicious chips.
The Shark Tank Pitch
Joe Sasto and co-founder Sean pitched on Episode 6, seeking $150,000 for 10% equity.
The Deal
No deal. The competitive snack chip market scared off all five Sharks. Daniel Lubetzky was the first to go out, citing his own bad experience running a pasta chip company.
