Z-CoiL has been making spring-loaded shoes since 1995, but it took a new generation of the founding family to bring the 30-year-old brand to Shark Tank. Lori Greiner saw potential in the pain-relief footwear and invested $250,000 for 50% equity.
What Is Z-CoiL?
Z-CoiL makes footwear with a visible coil spring in the heel that cuts impact by 50%. The shoes are popular with healthcare workers, teachers, and retail employees who spend long hours on their feet. The brand has been sold through 450 retail locations including 12 podiatrist-run stores.
The Shark Tank Pitch
Andres Gallegos (CEO) and Lindley Gallegos Bach (General Manager) pitched the family business on the Season 17 premiere. Their father Alvaro Z. Gallegos founded the company in 1995. Despite $1.4 million in 2024 sales, the company reported a $270,000 loss that year.
The Deal
Lori Greiner invested $250,000 for 50% equity. The large equity stake reflected both the company losses and the opportunity Lori saw to revitalise the brand through modern marketing and retail strategy.
